The Meon Valley Churches Walk
The self-guided Meon Valley Churches Walk combines the chance to explore the stunning scenery of Meon Valley with the chance to discover some of Hampshire’s most historically important churches.
The total distance of the walk from start to finish is approximately 24 miles. But if you don’t fancy walking the whole route, then why not complete a few sections, a circular walk or even a cycle tour.
The trail visits 11 churches in total, starting at All Saints’ Church, in East Meon, one of the finest Norman churches in Hampshire. It finishes at St Peter’s Church, in Titchfield, whose west tower contains some of the oldest Saxon work in Hampshire and includes a course of red Roman bricks.
The walk also takes you through some of South Hampshire’s finest countryside, most of which is inside the picturesque South Downs national park. Walk through spectacular landscapes with stunning views and look out for rare wildlife such as the Adonis Blue butterfly, the nightjar bird or a water vole.
After your walk, why not drive the short distance to West Meon and visit the Thomas Lord for a well-deserved delicious lunch or dinner.
