West Meon Music Festival
Every year the West Meon Music Festival brings world-class chamber music performances to rural Hampshire. It was founded in 2011 by the Primrose Piano Quartet, comprised of Susanne Stanzeleit on violin, Dorathea Vogel on viola, Andrew Fuller on cello and John Thwaites on piano – and is still run by them.
Past and future guests include world-famous clarinettist Michael Collins, violinist David Angel, the renowned mezzo-soprano Louise Winter and the Vickers-Bovey guitar duo.
A number of concerts are held throughout the weekend, including an informal event for children and a candlelit concert. The festival also combines music-making with support for its chosen charity of the year.
The festival usually takes place in September at St John the Evangelist Church in West Meon. It’s an exciting and busy time of year for the village. While you’re in West Meon topping up on culture, you should definitely add to the experience by dropping in for a delicious lunch or dinner at the Thomas Lord.
